Sipping my morning coffee in the cool light of day with the swallows swooping by collecting their petit déjeuner. The sky is full and hydrangeas blue. A dog barks in the distance happy to see his best friend. The sound of a young man so full of the arrogance of youth rides by on his dirt bike piercing the early morning stillness. Neighbours exchange loving bonnes journées as they head their separate ways. I sense my long past Nana sitting with me quietly, and elegantly marvelling at the opening to this day. It’s good to be alive. It’s good to be here, right now, in this moment.
