Surya the Sun-God of the Mewar Kingdom

The Udaipur State, also known as Mewar Kingdom, a former princely state in India at the time of the British Raj. The state of Mewar was founded around 530. Later the kingdom would ultimately be called Udaipur after the name of its new capital. When Udaipur State joined the Indian Union in 1949 it had been ruled by the Chattari Rajputs of Mori Guhilot Parihar and Sisodia dynasties for over 1,400 years.The royal crest of Mewar, the sun repeated in different forms in various parts of the massive City Palace complex. Note how the Mewari interpretation of the sun-god gives him a moustache and definite Rajput features.
