Diversions of the Flesh

On 4 August 1990 in Vancouver, Canada the third Gay Games (Celebration 90) became the first to take place outside of the United States. The event also became the first to see Masters world records broken (in swimming). Participants came from 27 countries — about 7,300 athletes competed in 27 sports, and there were about 1,500 cultural participants. At the height of the AIDS crisis, the Gay Games continued to serve as an inspiration. The Games had doubled in size once again.

The Physique Competition took place in the Orpheum Theatre, one of the most beautiful concert halls in North America.
